More detail on this person: JACHENS, BRUCE W. JACHENS, BRUCE W., 62, of Redington Beach, died Saturday (Feb. 24, 2001) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here in 1977 from Arlington, Va. He was a boat captain and a pilot. He was a self-employed business owner and was Lutheran. He was an Army veteran who served for 30 years, a chief warrant officer and a helicopter pilot. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for action in Vietnam, three Bronze Stars and an Air Medal with 24 oak leaf clusters. He served with the 348th Medical Detachment Helicopter Evacuation in Orlando. He was a member of the Air America Club, San Antonio, Texas, and American Legion Post 273, Madeira Beach. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; a sister, Andrea Kloostra, Annapolis, Md.; two stepdaughters, Natalie Jones and Jakolyn Jones, both of Toronto; and several nieces and nephews. E. James Reese Funeral Home & Crematory, Seminole.
