More detail on this person: Born to Lyman Boyd and Geraldine Alexander Jennings (later Anderson), he attended Woodruff High School and graduated from Richwoods High School in 1959. After graduation, he drove to Alaska with his lifelong friend and fellow Eagle Scout, Jim McDonough, in a camper they built themselves. Lyman received a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in 1965. In 1976, he received a master's degree from Western New Mexico University. During the Vietnam War, he served as an Army helicopter pilot and attained the rank of Captain. He flew helicopters most of his life, except for a short time when he was a science teacher and Vice Principal in Alamogordo, N.M. In addition to his love of helicopters, he had a lifelong passion for fishing and boating, and enjoyed watching Nascar.
