More detail on this person: Michael Jimenez TX United States MICHAEL JIMENEZ, 56, passed away on June 23, 2005. His family and colleagues remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who inspired them with his energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and courage. Michael was born August 17, 1948 in Oxnard, California to William and Mary Jimenez. Michael served in the United States Army for 27 years, with posts in Vietnam, Japan, Germany and throughout the United States. He was drafted in 1968, selected for officer candidate school and flight school. He retired in 1995 at the rank of Colonel. Following his retirement from the military, Michael began civilian life with service for the Houston Independent School District. He worked at HISD from 1995 to 2000 as deputy superintendent for human resources, working closely with then Superintendent Rod Paige and other district leaders. In 2001, Michael joined the staff of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. As vice president and chief human resources officer, he led the human resources division during some challenging times of change across the university, providing counsel to executive leadership and spearheading an important institutional planning initiative. Michael retired from the UT Health Science Center in March. His contributions to our country, our city and the health science center were celebrated in a special reception held for him and his family in April. Michael is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patty, his son and daughter-in-law Todd and Mindy Jimenez, his daughter and son-in-law Missy and Troy Endicott, and three grandchildren, Julia, Othello and Annabel. Survivors also include Michael's mother, Mary and siblings Dan, Cecilia, Robert and Richard. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Monday at Klein Funeral Home-Champion Forest. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ignatius Loyola, 7810 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, Texas, 77379, (281)370-3401, Father Daniel Creagan, S.J., Celebrant. Interment will follow at Houston National VA Cemetery. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial donations may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (Colon Cancer Research), Memorial Donations, PO Box 4486, Houston, Texas, 77210-4486.
