More detail on this person: Leslie B. Johnson and William Meador: Man shoots son-in-law, then kills himself PENSACOLA - A man shot and critically wounded his son-in-law at the victim's law office and then rammed a police car with his sport utility vehicle, injuring an officer, before apparently shooting himself to death Monday, police said. Leslie B. Johnson, 56, of nearby Cantonment shot his son-in-law, attorney William Meador, two times about 1:35 p.m. CST in downtown Pensacola, police said in a news release. Witnesses said Meador was shot in the head. Ivette Rivera, a receptionist at the Emmanuel Sheppard and Condon law firm, told the Pensacola News Journal that Johnson went into Meador's office but he was not there so she sent out a computer message to locate him. She said she heard gunshots about five minutes later and ran from the firm's offices. "It was really loud and then one of the attorneys, Chuck Young, told us to run," said paralegal Susan Moore, who was standing about 20 feet from where the shooting occurred. "He just said 'Go, run, run now.' " Law partner Wanda Radcliffe went into her office, got under her desk and called 911 when she heard the gunshots. "They asked me if the man was still in the building," she said. "I said, 'I don't know, I'm still hiding.' " Police told the suspect to drop his handgun as he walked out of the building but he refused and got into his vehicle, witnesses said. Two officers fired shots at the suspect's tires before it crashed into the police car and the driver shot himself. Firefighters peeled the roof off the cruiser so the injured officer, Sarah Barbosa, 26, could be removed. She was in good condition at Baptist Hospital, police said. Meador, listed in critical condition at Baptist, graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1997 and from Cumberland Law School in 2000. The firm's senior partner, Patrick G. Emmanuel, is a former president of the Florida Bar.
