More detail on this person: Richard Ralph Johnson Richard Ralph Johnson, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Viera Hospital in Viera, Florida. He was born on March 16, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Ralph and Opal Johnson. Richard grew up in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology before joining the Marine Corps where he served 24 years including 2 tours in Vietnam before retiring as a Lt. Colonel. After retiring he put his experience to good use with System Support Associates where he worked for 22 years, ending his career in Melbourne, Florida which he called home. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Cecilia who he married in Chicago in 1958. They were happily married for 27 years and have four surviving children, Joseph Brian Johnson and his wife Patricia, Mary Claire Foley and her husband Kevin, Carla Elizabeth Johnson and Alec J Johnson. He also had five loving grandchildren, Michael and Kaitlyn Foley, Natascha, Kai and Nicholas Johnson. He is also survived by his two sisters Diane DeSalvo and her husband Ernest, Abbie Friddell and her husband Jay, and his brother Darryl Johnson and his wife Judy, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Richard loved God, his family and his country. He was extremely proud of his children and spoke often of their accomplishments. He missed his wife terribly and we are comforted that he is now able to join her again. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Mt. Castle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA 22193. The funeral mass will be held from 12-1 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Rd., Triangle, VA 22172 followed by the burial at 1:30 at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Quantico, VA.
