More detail on this person: Roy C. Jones, age 93, of El Paso passed away on September 10, 2018 at the Spokane Veterans Home. Roy was born on December 4, 1924 in Dallas, TX to Roy C and Lillian Jones. He served in the Navy for 4 years on the USS Belleau Wood during WWII. He married Martha Lou Humphrey on March 20, 1946 and they were married for 72 years at his passing. He then attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 1949. He then served in the Army for 22 years including serving as an artillery officer in the Korean War and as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1971. After the Army, he went back to college at The University of Texas at El Paso and obtained his teaching degree. He taught at Burnett Elementary School in El Paso, TX for 10 years before retiring again. He is survived by his wife, Martha, his daughter Marsha Martin (James Martin) of Spokane, WA, his son Paul R. Jones (Joanne Jones) of Anderson, SC and his 4 grandchildren, Bethany Martin, Grant Martin (Andrea Martin), Zachary Jones and Kaitlyn Jones. He was buried at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spokane Veterans Home Welfare and Betterment Fund (in memory of Roy Jones), 222 E 5th Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.
