More detail on this person: William Edward Knapp A funeral mass for William Edward Knapp, 69, of Shreveport will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Celebrating the mass will be Msgr. Murray Clayton, pastor. Burial with military honors will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary following in Centuries Funeral Home Chapel at 7 p.m. Mr. Knapp was a native of Des Moines, IA and has resided in Shreveport for the past five years. He passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving his country for 20 years. He was a Vietnam veteran where he flew both KC-135 tankers and Huey helicopters. Mr. Knapp was also a member of the Shreveport Modular Railroad Club and of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Loretta Ryan Knapp. Mr. Knapp is survived by his loving wife of almost 45 years, Joyce B. Knapp; a son, Dana Knapp of Chicago, IL; three daughters, Katherine Knapp of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer Abusamra and husband Jim of Northboro, MA and Deborah Knapp of Bossier City; a sister, Jean Bidle of Hendersonville, NC; a brother, Daniel Knapp of Ellwood, IN; and two grandchildren, Caitlin and Nicole Abusamra. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of W-K Cancer Center, 4 - East, Home Health and Northwest Regional Hospice.
