More detail on this person: Gary sent email to several 7/17th Cav guys on 2 July 2018 LEANDER, Texas - Peter A. Kacerguis, USA, Col. Retired, entered into the blessed hope of life eternal on 1 July 2018 surrounded by his family and beloved dog Pork Chop. Peter was born on 20 June 1944 in Waterbury, Conn., the son of Anastasia and Edward Kacerguis. He attended St. John the Evangelist School in Watertown, Watertown High School and graduated from Providence College in 1966. While at Providence, Peter was a member of the ROTC Unit. Upon graduation, Peter entered the United States Army where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, beginning a career that spanned 26 years. During his service to our nation, Peter was awarded the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star. He retired with the rank of Colonel, and further served his country working at the Federal Aviation Administration in their Research and Development Division. Peter's retirement from government service saw him move to Texas to be with his sons and their families. He is survived by his wife Julia of 41 years, and his sons, Christopher (Megan) and Daniel (Brooke) and his five grandchildren, Michael, Anna, Clara, Aerolynne and Ivy. He is also survived by his brother, Fr. Edward Kacerguis, Pastor of Christ Sun of Justice and the Roman Catholic Chaplain at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents, and brother David, and numerous aunts and uncles. The Liturgy of Christian Burial and Internment will take place at a future date at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at the Church of the Nativity, E. Main St., Bethlehem at 6 p.m. The family asks that memorial donations be made in Peter's name to: St. John the Evangelist School, 760 Main St., Watertown, CT 06795 stjohnwtn.org.
