More detail on this person: ED KUYKENDALL Edward L. "ED" Kuykendall age 85 died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. Services will be held Monday, July 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Anne Harris officiating, burial with U.S. Marine Honors will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Mr. Kuykendall was born on Saturday, October 27, 1928 in Columbus, MS to the late Eddie Lee and Ophelia McGee Kuykendall. Ed was a devoted family man who loved his family and his God. He was a lay-reader, licensed ecumenical minister and very active member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. As a marine aviator he served in both the Korean conflict and Vietnam. He retired from the Marine Corp at the rank of Major. One of Eds passions was the Boy Scouts of America. He was an Eagle Scout who continued to work with scouting all his life. He served in almost every capacity within the scouting movement, a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, recipient of the Silver Beaver award and Watanala Lodges lifetime achievement award. Ed owned and operated several downtown Columbus businesses. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Gerry Keeton. Survivors include: His wife: Frances L. Kuykendall Columbus MS Three Sons: Edward Lantz Kuykendall (Susan), Jackson, MS John Kurtis Kuykendall (Jennifer), Columbus, MS Steven Frank Kuykendall, Columbus, MS 4 Grandchildren Memorial may be made to Boy Scouts of America, 420 31st Avenue North, Columbus, MS 39705.
