More detail on this person: Kent James Knoff Knoff, Kent James Kent James Knoff, 52, of 8 Brookdale Ave., formerly of Charleston, died at his home, Monday, September 20, 1999 following an extended illness. Born in Rochester, NY, he was a son of the late Rudolph James and Jenny Scardino Knoff. He was last employed as a chef at the 858 Restaurant and the Italian Market and Grill. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army& was a highly decorated helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Surviving are his wife, Alexis Vainas; his step-mother who raised him, Ida M. Traikoff of Arlington, VA; his sister Patti of Lorton, VA; a niece, Kathryn Grace; a nephew, Nicholas Kent;& a large extended family of friends, including three loving dogs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville County Cancer Society, 113 Mills Ave., Greenville, SC 29605 or Concerned Citizens for Animals, PO Box 1332, Simpsonville, SC 29681 A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Sunday, October 3, 1999 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 67 Anson St., Charleston. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, October 14, 1999 at 1 pm
