More detail on this person: LTC David Kidd, Sr David Dwain Kidd Sr., 68, Lonedell, a retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Army, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006, at his son's home. Mr. Kidd was born Jan. 4, 1938, the son of John Henry Kidd and wife Ruth Inez, nee Markham. On March 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Bowden. Mr. Kidd made the military his career and entered the U.S. Army Nov. 23, 1960. He served his country during the Vietnam War. He earned a master's degree and advanced to the rank of lieutenant colonel, serving for over 20 years and retiring Nov. 30, 1980. Mr. Kidd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Ann Kidd; one son, David Dwain Kidd Jr.; six brothers, Lester, Woodrow, Donald, John, Melvin and Dwight Kidd; four sisters, Pearl Kidd, Beulah Hillhouse, Marie Holder and Violet Ann Bowden. He is survived by two sons, Dean Kidd and wife Nancy, Gibson City, Ill., and Lelan Kidd, St. Clair; one brother, Dale Kidd and wife Diane, Linden, Texas; one sister, Alice Zweng, Dearborn, Mich.; one grandson, Drew Kidd, St. Clair; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Dr. Phil Turner officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Garden, St. Clair, with full military honors. Memorials to the American Heart Association are preferred.
