More detail on this person: Andrew Komblevitz, 73, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. He died at his residence in Edina, MN. Andrew was born in Fremont, MI on April 26, 1945 to Peter and Dorothy Komblevitz. He grew up in Cadillac, MI where he enjoyed playing on the football team with some of his best friends. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and went on to serve as an officer and helicopter pilot in the Vietnam war. He was described by one of his friends and fellow leaders as, "strong and brave and had a solid moral compass." Upon completion of his service he attended law school and ran a successful law practice in Ypsilanti, MI. Prior to retiring, he was an active member of a local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce, and served as vice president of the Ypsilanti Jaycees during an award-winning year. Andrew was a patient, generous, hardworking man with a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his wife and daughter, as well as playing golf with his friends. As a father, he was a great cheerleader and role model. As a husband, he was honest and loving. As a friend he was supportive and loyal. He was loved deeply by all who got to know him. Andrew is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Tanya; brother, Pete; and sister, Kathy. He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Dorothy Komblevitz. A memorial for Andrew will be held at Sidetrack Bar and Grill in Ypsilanti, MI, from 12:30-4pm on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Please bring stories to share and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Parkinson's Foundation in his name.
