More detail on this person: NEIL T. KINNEAR III Capt. Neil T. Kinnear III, USNR, retired, passed away Oct. 30, 2001, at DePaul Hospital, after a courageous fight with cancer. Born in Brooksville, Fla., he was the son of the late Neil T. and Mary Kinnear. He is survived by his wife, Beth of 30 years. He is also survived by his children: his son, Adam and his wife Andrea of Norfolk and their sons, Stephen and Jacob, his son, Joshua and wife Kelly of Virginia Beach, and his daughter, Megan of Arlington. Neil leaves behind his sister, Pamela Whitehead of Florida; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Kinnear. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Neil served with distinction as an aviator in the Marine Corps for six years and in the Navy Reserves for 21 years. Neil was a highly decorated officer and recipient of the Navy/Marine Corps Medal for Heroism. A veteran of the Gulf War and former Commanding Officer of HCS-4, he retired from the Navy Reserves in June of this year. He was employed in the civilian sector for the Veridian Corporation where he worked as a Senior Analyst. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk by Rabbi Michael Joseph and Cantor Jennifer Bern-Vogel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Granby Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health to support the NIH family lodge, 1 Cloister Court, Suite 152, Bethesda, MD 20814-1460 or to the Jewish Community Center, 7300 Newport Ave., Norfolk, VA 23505. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
