KLEPPSATTEL Jr. FL United States KLEPPSATTEL, JR., COLONEL FRED M., USMC (Ret) 88, Orlando, Florida passed away on August 16, 2011.Born in Bonne Terre, Missouri, Col. Kleppsattel retired from the Marine Corps in 1974 following a thirty one year career. He was a naval aviator and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Col. Kleppsattel was a graduate of the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Business Administration and a M.A in Statistics. He was a graduate of the United States Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School and the United States Naval War College. Col. Kleppsattel's overseas assignments include Okinawa, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and the Dominican Republic as well as a number of aircraft carrier deployments. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit w/combat V, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, eight Air Medals, the Combat Action Ribbon and numerous Unit Citations. He was a member of the Military Officers Association and the Marine Corps Aviation Association. He is survived by his wife Jeannine and his daughters, Susan Brockmann of Marthasville, Missouri (Gary), Kathy McKnight of Orlando, Florida (Martin), and Joan Mathews of Apopka, Florida (William). Colonel Kleppsattel is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Jennifer Kazmaier (Brad), Jesse Mathews (Karli Kennedy), Sara Colon (Albert), Katie Mathews (Rafael Ortiz), Jeannine McKnight, Brianne Snyder, (Branden), Ryan Brockmann (Ashley), Lauren Kazmaier, Braden Kazmaier, Bryce Kazmaier, Isabel Colon, Grace Colon, Madelyn Colon, and Savannah Snyder. No service will be held locally. His ashes will be interred at the Arlington National Cemetery, in Washington, D.C.
