Kretsinger, 78 JUNE 11, 1927-JAN. 11, 2006 WILLIAMSPORT - Philip Warren "Phil" Kretsinger, 78, of 16624 Tammany Lane, Williamsport, Md., died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at Washington County Hospital. Phil was born in Williamsport, June 11, 1927, the son of the late Glenn Victor and Margaret Virginia Payne Kretsinger. He graduated from Hagerstown High School Class of 1947 and attended The University of Maryland and Shepherd College. Phil served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and as a helicopter pilot with the rank of CW4 in the U.S. Army during the War in Vietnam. He continued in this capacity as a civilian and in the Army Reserve until his retirement as a dispatcher in 1987. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsport. Phil also was a member of the Potomac Fish and Game Club, Potomac American Legion Post 202, both of Williamsport, VFW of Greencastle, Pa., and the Quiet Birdmen of Hagerstown. Phil is survived by his wife of 56 years, E. Joan Martin Kretsinger; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" K. Harrison and her husband, William H. Harrison of LaPlata, Md.; son, Philip W. Kretsinger Jr. and his wife, Dorothea E. Kretsinger of Boonsboro; grandchildren, Jennifer M. Snook and her husband, Todd C. Snook of Williamsport, Seth Glenn Kretsinger and his wife, Julianna Kretsinger of Martinsville, Ind., Catherine Diana Kretsinger of Baltimore, Benjamin Philip Harrison of Newport News, Va., Krista Anne Harrison of LaPlata; and two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine "Katie" O'Connell. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport with the Rev. W. Gregory Martin officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends in the church after the services. The family requests the omission of flowers and memorial donations may be made to either Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport, MD 21795 or the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway Ambulance Service, 11114 Lincoln Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740. Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport.
