More detail on this person: William A. Kuschel Jr. 1932-2005 William A. "Bud" "Bill" Kuschel Jr., a retired Air Force major, 72, of Cheyenne died March 25 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Denver. He was born May 29, 1932, in Detroit and lived here for 35 years. Mr. Kuschel served in the Air Force for 22 years before retiring in 1972. He served in Vietnam in 1969 and in France. He was stationed in California, North Dakota, Vietnam, Cheyenne and Alaska during the earthquake in 1964. He was commissioned April 14, 1954, through Aviation Cadets and received his pilot rating April 14, 1954. He was awarded the Air Medal for flying in Vietnam with one oak leaf cluster, the Purple Heart and Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster. After his retirement, Mr. Kuschel was a rancher. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Military Officers Association of America and Daedalians, a fraternal order of military pilots. Mr. Kuschel is survived by his wife, Mary A. Kuschel of Cheyenne, whom he married April 14, 1954, in Greenville, Miss.; a son, William A. "Willy" Kuschel III of Cheyenne; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay and Keith Wardlaw of Laramie; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Lou Mills of Alanson, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Kevin Wardlaw and Kendra Wardlaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Annabell Kuschel. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. todayWednesday at F.E. Warren AFB High Plains Church with the Rev. Eugene Theisen as the celebrant. Military honors will be provided by F.E. Warren Air Force Base Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Wayne Child, Stan Beckle, Steve Foster, Vernon Baldeshwiler, Tom "TJ" Hermann and Frank Morrow. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Mellblom and Ralph Shauger. Cremation will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Friends may contribute to Our Lady of the Snows Shrine in care of James E. Taylor, OMI, St. Henry's, 200 North 60th Street, Belleville, IL 62223.
