More detail on this person: Death won't end suit against firm FORT WORTH - The death of Wade C. Kern will not end the damage suit in which the Fort Worth helicopter pilot charged an employer insisted he become a Moslem, U.S. Dist. Judge David O. Belew Jr. said Monday. Belew said the estate of Wade C. Kern, who died Aug. 24, may continue his suit against Dynalectron. Attorney Art Brender, who represented Kern, said his family wanted to keep the suit alive. Kern said he agreed to work for Dynalectron as a helicopter pilot in Saudi Arabia. Then, he said, he learned while training in Japan that his job hinged upon the requirement he renounce his Southern Baptist religion and become a Moslem. The suit said the requirement violated Kern's civil rights. Dynalectron officials said Kern knew before he was hired of the requirement that he convert to the Islamic faith. Otherwise, they said, Saudi Arabian rules would not permit him to fly helicopters in a holy area around Mecca. The officials said Kern agreed voluntarily to confirm with the requirement and then apparently changed his mind.
