GEORGE KOMAR, 74, of Cordova, retired from the Army, died Saturday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Holy Spirit with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge. He was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran, inductee into the Infantry Hall of Fame in Fort Benning, Ga., recipient of the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star and a graduate of the University of Omaha and the Navy War College. Col. Komar, the husband of Sallie Komar, also leaves a daughter, Lorrie Ridder of Memphis; a son, Greg Komar of Plano, Texas; two sisters, Ann Barton of Apalachin, N.Y., and Delorus Komar of Topanga, Calif.; four brothers, John Komar and Andy Komar, both of Endicott, N.Y., Charles Komar of Binghamton, N.Y., and Paul Komar of Owego, N.Y., and three grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Salvation Army.
