More detail on this person: Roy Joseph Lowery Roy J. Lowery, 75, of Wooster passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Wooster Community Hospital. Roy was born May 14, 1936, in New Reigel, to Harley John and Clara Theresa (Boes) Lowery. He was the eighth son of 10 children. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. Roy received a master's degree in counseling and guidance. He married Nancy J. Witmore on Feb. 2, 1957, recently celebrating 54 years together. Roy retired after 22 years of service from the U.S. Army and worked for ConAgra Mills for 17 years. Roy taught driving school for the AARP. He was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, Vietnam Veterans of America, Barry P. Caruso Chapter 255 and Borderline Dancers. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Roy will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy; sons, Sean Lowery of Nelsonville and Colin (Lori) Lowery of Loudonville; grandsons, Drew and Brock Lowery; brothers, Dale (Charlotte) Lowery, Raymond (Beatrice) Lowery, Arlen (Sue) Lowery and Gerald (Joanne) Lowery, all of Fostoria; and sister, Gloria Lowery of Temperance, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Darrell, Donald, Dean and Paul Lowery. Friends may call 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Roberts Funeral Home -- Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating.
