More detail on this person: Huey Parker Lang Services for Lt. Col. (Ret.) Huey Parker Lang will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Revs. Earl Wheatley, David Bowen and Dick Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Ltc. Lang, 77, of Meridian, died Saturday, March, 21, 2009, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, and will be greatly missed by his loving family. Lang graduated from Meridian High School, the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor's Degree in History, and from the University of Southern California with a Master's Degree in Systems Management. He served his country well for 28 years as a member of the United States Army. Ltc. Lang served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Medical Evacuation "Dust Off" pilot and was credited with evacuating approximately 6,000 wounded personnel. His medals and awards include the Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/1st Hourglass Device, Senior Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Medal Badge, Meritorious Unit Commendation (3rd Award), the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Air Medal with 19 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, 3 Overseas Service Bars, and the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Upon retirement from the Military, Mr. Lang worked for the U S Postal Service for 13 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Pullin Lang; five children, Shannon Daniel and her husband, Joe of Greenbriar, TN, Jill Gavin and her husband, Mickey of Meridian, Lisa Harris and her husband, Johnny of Meridian, Jennifer Lesley and her husband, Steve of Tupelo, MS and Huey Parker (Peter) Lang, II and his wife, Beth of Meridian; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Duvall of Long Beach, CA and Barbara Coblentz of Starkville, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Parker Lang and Inez Kilpatrick Lang; and his in-laws, Hubert Ethel and Bertie Matthews Pullin. Pallbearers will be Jason Daniel, Lyles Freeze, Justin Harris, Zac Harris, Steve Lesley, and David Pullin. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Calvert, his best friend, and his Sunday School class, the Christian Homebuilders, North Park Church. Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
