Knoxville News Sentinel (TN) - Friday, October 19, 2007 LEDGERWOOD, WILLIAM EUGENE Lt. Col. USA, RET. of Jefferson City, TN passed away after an extended illness on October 18, 2007. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and the University of Tennessee. While at UT he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. As an Army aviator for over 20 years, he served two tours in Vietnam. Having received many awards, he was most proud of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze medal. In 1975, as the first Senior Army Instructor, he established the JROTC at Jefferson County High School, a position he held for nine years. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. As a wildlife artist, he was the winner of several State wildlife stamps. He was past President of the Tennessee Artist Association and an active member of the Morristown Art Association. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City. Preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Vera Ledgerwood; a baby sister and his brother, Claude Newell Ledgerwood. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wilma (Bili); three children and their spouses, Moira Woods, Vera and Terry Reneau, LTC W. Scott and Dawn Ledgerwood; six grandchildren, Christopher Woods and Jillian Woods, Hillary Reneau and Jake Reneau, Allison Ledgerwood and Olivia Ledgerwood; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Don Orth. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family requests no flowers, but rather that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 10088, Knoxville, TN 37939-9910, First Presbyterian Church, 721 Church Street, Jefferson City, TN 37760, or ALPS. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Russ Weekley, Harry Finley, CLP, and Lt. Col. W. Scott Ledgerwood officiating. Family and friends will gather at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 p.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, TN 37760
