More detail on this person: William Eugene "Bill" Lockridge February 2, 1949 - August 27, 2022 Bill was born in Selma, Alabama to Mary and Victor Lockridge, the younger of two brothers. His older brother was James Earle. He grew up loving the woods and rivers of central Alabama, and deer hunting and bass fishing. Growing up, he developed a fascination for the American Civil War, and especially the Confederate Navy and the firearms of the era. In his later years he frequently lectured on various aspects of the American Civil War and was active with SCV (Sons of Confederate Veterans). He wrote many articles detailing issues and life of the era, armament of the times, and especially highlighting misconstrued political motivations as commonly perceived from school book history. He had a knack for revealing true history. Bill was a warrant officer, US ARMY helicopter pilot, Ft. Rucker class 70-21. He served in Viet Nam first as a "Charlie Horse" Unit C/3/17 (70-71), and later as a "Royal Coachman" Unit 62 CAC (71). He later flew off shore oil rigs for Air Logistics in Louisiana . He was an FAA certified flight instructor, and also airport manager at numeous airports in the southeast, including Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. One of his most interesting involvements was serving on the operations team that set up the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He later worked for an aviation consulting firm in New York City. Bill is survived by his wife Marty Lockridge, son William Parker Lockridge, daughter Constance Jane Lockridge, grand daughter Willow Hunter (12), and brother James Earle Lockridge. He was preceded in passing by his daughter Mary Marguerite Lockridge, and his parents Mary Estelle McHaffey Lockridge and Victor Earl Lockridge.
