More detail on this person: Robert Austin Locke SEPTEMBER 28, 1944 - DECEMBER 7, 2022 Robert Austin "Bob" Locke, age 78, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Robert was born in Los Angeles on September 28, 1944. He was the son of the late Harold and Evelyn Nash Locke; Along with his parents, his brother, Ralph Locke, preceded him in death. Mr. Locke was a Captain in The United States Army. He served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot. For his service, Robert received The Distinguished Flying Cross in 1968 and The Bronze Star in 1971. On active duty for eight years, Robert served a further eight years in the Army Reserves and National Guard. After his military service, Robert graduated with a BFA in Painting and drawing from the University of California Long Beach. Bob was part of the first team for the Life Flight program in Atlanta, he was an EMS helicopter pilot for thirty-eight years. Robert was a member of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, he served there in in the pre-school department where he worked with two-year olds. Robert is survived by his wife of more than fifty years, Gay Locke; his children, David, and his wife, Mary Locke, and Jill Locke and her husband, Peter Tijhuis; his grandsons, Devin Tijhuis, Axel Tijhuis, Owen Locke, and Quinn Locke; his siblings, Ross Steffire and Tom Locke; other relatives and many friends. A gathering of friends for Robert will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. A memorial service will occur Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 3:00 PM, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. A time of fellowship will occur Sunday, December 18, 2022, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152.
