More detail on this person: Obituary for William P. "Bill" Lowie William "Bill" P. Lowie died peacefully in his sleep on September 14, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Bill was born in Abbeyville, Georgia, and was the son of the late William "Odell" and Effie Lowie. He was preceded in death by his oldest grandson Kevin. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-five years Susan Lutzo Lowie of McRae, GA; sons, William of Palm Bay, FL, Brian (Nancy) of Orlando, FL, Brett (Christine) of Murrieta, CA, Bruce (Molly) of Sanford, FL; four grandsons, John, Zach, Justin & Alex; five grand-daughters, Jacquelyn, Katy (David) Littrell, Alyssa, Nicole & Samantha; two great grand-children, Sebastian & Abigail; sister Laverne Miller of Debary, FL, brother James (Sharon) Lowie of Friendswood, TX, brother John (Sharon) Lowie of Helena, GA, sister Patricia (Marion) Johns of Helena, GA, sister Brenda (Al) Garmon of Tampa, FL, sister Pauline (Jimmy) Johnson of Orlando, FL, and several nieces & nephews. He was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran, and after serving as a Medivac Helicopter Pilot, he settled with his family in the Orlando area in 1965. He worked for Citrus Helicopters in Winter Garden, FL several years before leaving on the high seas to captain & fly helicopters for the Starkist Tuna Corporation fleet for twelve years. He later worked for Florida Expressway Authority until his retirement in 2008. He was also an avid reader, loved to build model ships, camping, crossword puzzles, T.V. game shows, traveling, Blazing 7's Slot Machines, and always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date in Veteran's National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends & family are encouraged to make donations to the "Make a Wish" Foundation. Services entrusted to Lowe's Funeral Home of Helena.
