Lawrence was born Friday, March 8, 1940, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, son of Mr. Vivian Lawrence and Mrs. Evelyn McCain Lawrence. Upon his high school graduation, Calvin later matriculated to Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina, where he earned his college degree. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of numerous medals to include the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm Medal and the Army Aviation Badge. After many years of dedicated service, Calvin retired from the United States Army/Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC. He was united in Christian fellowship with the Erie Street Church of God in Christ, Franklin, PA. His family, especially his grandchildren, watching football, working out, traveling and helping others by providing transportation and in whatever other ways he could were his life passions. In his seventy-third year, on Monday, September 9, 2013, while at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Calvin transitioned to eternal life joining his parents and his wife, Myrtis Lawrence. He leaves to honor and cherish his legacy one son, Calvin D. Lawrence of Harrisburg, PA; four grandchildren, Nia Dejesus of Harrisburg, Sylvia Dejesus of Laurel, Maryland, Kalyn Dejesus of Laurel, Maryland, and Mike "Woocho" Vojtas of Harrisburg; a daughter-in-law, Ann Ingrassia of Harrisburg; three brothers, Elv Lawrence and his wife Twila of Harrisburg, Dennis Lawrence of Jamestown, New York, and Rolland Lawrence of Franklin, PA; one sister, Barbara Dawson of Manhattan, New York; his granddaughters' mother, Crystal Dejesus of Laurel, Maryland; two step-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Mr. Lawrence's life will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Tuesday, September 17th, at Wallace Funeral Directors with viewing from 11 AM to Noon and interment at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. wallacefd.com
