Lawson, 62, of Alamogordo, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, in Alamogordo. Mr. Lawson was born January 20, 1946, in Chico, Calif., to Marvin Max and Irma Maxine (Baldwin) Lawson. He served 13 years in the Army, first as an enlisted soldier and later as a warrant officer. He did three tours in Vietnam, and among his many decorations were the Purple Heart, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Following his military service he worked for Dow Chemical Company. Survivors include his wife, Susan Lawson, of the family home; two daughters, Erin Lawson, of Idaho, and Melinda Dourte and her husband Norm, of Ephrata, Wash.; two sons, John Lawson and Ashley Owens and his wife Peggy, all of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren; a brother, Mike Lawson, of Alamogordo; and two sisters, Kim Renee Jones and Lanna Lynn Myers, both of Beloit, Kan. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held today.
