More detail on this person: Steve Lindsey passed peacefully Nov. 27, 2016, in the comfort of his home. We love him and miss him very much. He was a son, brother, an uncle, a veteran, a pilot, a husband, a father and Papa to 10 grandchildren. We are so thankful to Steve for so many things: for his service, for his humor and wit, for his honesty, for building a life and raising his family in Alaska. Steve was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Marion County, Alabama, to parents IJ and Bernice Lindsey. When he turned 17, he tricked his mother into signing enlistment paperwork for him to join the Army. He was a hell of a soldier, serving two deployments in Vietnam, one as an infantryman and the other as a Cobra pilot. Steve met Vickie Holm in Denver, Colorado, and they were married Aug. 12, 1967, in Denver. The two had five children. Shortly after honorable discharge, Steve moved his young family to Alaska, where he flew commercial helicopter operations for many years. Much of his flying time was spent in support of the building of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline. In the late 1980s, he moved to the dark side and began his career with the FAA in flight standards, where he retired in 2014. Steve is preceded in death by his parents IJ and Bernice Lindsey. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Lindsey; son Robert Lindsey and his wife, Denise, and their four children, Elijah, Noah, Micah and Jonah; daughter Kelly Nash and her children, Hannah and Maggie; son Jason Lindsey and his wife, Becky, and their son, Finn; son Matt Lindsey and his wife, Anna, and their son, Ayden; daughter Chelsey Seaton and her husband, Clint, and their children, Stanley and Claire. Steve is also survived by his sister, Joyce Phillips, and her husband, Charles, and their son, Kevin; his brother, Phil Lindsey, and his wife, Minnie, and Phil's children, Jeff, Bridget, and Michelle; as well as many cousins and extended family and friends. Rest in peace, Steve. You lived a full life and left a legacy that we are all proud of; there are damn few like you left. We love you.
