Colonel Ercie J. Leach, US Army (Retired), 81, of Summerville, SC, entered into the presence of his
Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 1, 2013 at home after a prolonged illness.
He was born to Lucy and Riley Leach on September 26, 1931 in Beaver Dam, KY. He attended Western
Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY, and graduated from Omaha University in Omaha, NE.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1952. During his military career he was an Artillerymen and a Pilot.
Some highlights of his career include working at the Pentagon and flying President Harry S. Truman.
He earned many citations and awards including; Legion of Merit Award, Purple Heart and Distinguished
Flying Cross. He retired in 1983 with thirty one years in the service.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 12 o'clock PM at Bethany United
Methodist Church in Summerville, SC. At a later date he will be buried in Arlington National
Cemetery with full Military Honors.
