More detail on this person: The Augusta Chronicle-May 22, 2012 EVANS, Ga. - David Haskins Lindsey, 77, entered into rest on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at UniHealth Nursing Facility in North Augusta, SC. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 24, 2012 in the Platt's Belair Road Chapel with full military honors by the U. S. Army. David was born May 16, 1935 in Gardner, Mass. He was the third child of Arthur Leroy Lindsey and Josie Emma Lindsey (nee) Haskins residing in Athol, Mass where he grew up, attending Public Schools there, graduating from Athol High School in 1953. He attended Mass. State College at Fitchburg for 2 years before volunteering for active duty in the U. S. Army. He later graduated from Chaminade University of Honolulu, and received an MBA from The College of William and Mary. After completing basic and advanced Army training he was selected to attend Helicopter Pilot training at Fort Rucker, AL. While there he met and later, married Shirley Ann Green, daughter of Fletcher & Mae Green of Midland City, AL. A month after marrying he graduated, received his wings, and was promoted to Warrant Officer. He served in various flying assignments in the U. S., Greenland, & the Republic of Panama, receiving the Air Medal for personal actions in each of those countries. In May 1962 he was promoted to 2nd Lt. He served in various assignments as aviator, unit commander, staff officer, logistician, and in The Office of the Army's Inspector General as an inspector. He retired in August 1989 as a Colonel with 35 years service, Master Army Aviator wings, The Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal 15 awards, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct medal and other service and campaign ribbons. He is survived by his wife Shirley A. Lindsey of Evans, GA, son Michael A. Lindsey (Kelly Ann) of Alpharetta, GA, two daughters, Kimberly A. Stephens of Woodbridge, VA and Briana Ryals (Brent) of Evans, GA, four grandchildren, Ashley Lindsey, Michael Lindsey, Ruby Borroughs and Sabrina Ryals, 2 great grandchildren, Silas Borroughs and Jayden Borroughs and two sisters, Anita Myers of Granby, CT and Faye Lindsey of Athol, MA.
