More detail on this person: Allen Livingston OBITUARIES Wyoming Tribune-Eagle (Cheyenne, WY) - Saturday, July 19, 2003 1947-2003 LTC (Ret.) Allen "Scott" Livingston, 56, died July 15 at his home in Laramie after a prolonged battle with melanoma. Scott was born to Allen Monroe "Livy" Livingston and Frances Ruth (Sanderson) Livingston in Billings, Mont., on Feb. 20, 1947. The family moved to Cody when he was 2 weeks old. He graduated from Cody High School in 1965 and attended the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1969 with a degree in sociology. Upon graduation, he was commissioned in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps as a second lieutenant and attended rotary wing flight school. He married Lynne Smith at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Thermopolis on Feb. 7, 1970. His career included assignments as commander of the 571st Medical Evacuation Unit at Fort Carson, Executive Officer of the 421st Medical Evacuation Battalion in Nellingen, Germany, and Commander of the 128th Combat Support Hospital in Ludwigsburg. He flew a tour of duty in Vietnam as a medivac pilot and served in Korea as Executive Officer of the 2nd Med Battalion. He graduated from Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. He retired with several commendations including the Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal with Oak Leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Legion of Merit. He held a master's degree in public administration/health care. Upon retirement, he returned to University of Wyoming and obtained a second bachelor's degree in secondary education/social studies. He was social studies teacher at Cathedral Home for Children until January 2001 when he was hired by the Wyoming State Department of Health as Area Resource Specialist for the Developmental Disabilities Division. Scott was active in Laramie Lions Club and served as its president. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and UW Cowboy Joe Club. He was instrumental in Special Olympics programs wherever he was stationed and coached the Laramie teams whenever the opportunity arose. Scott was fond of theatrics, acting in local productions of "Music Man" and serving as the MC for the "Millennium USO Show." Most recently he played the part of "Everyman" in the St. Matthew's production of that classic medieval morality play. Scott was an active member of St. Matthew's Cathedral, singing in the choir and participating in their special community productions. He also served on the Vestry as junior and senior warden. Scott loved being with and supporting his extended family, being outdoors, remodeling their 100-year-old house and especially enjoyed his garden and yard. He is survived by his wife, Lynne of 33 years; son, Todd of ARK of Laramie; daughter Cody Lynne, a student at Eastern Wyoming College; mother, Frances Livingston of Cody and Laramie; sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and Pete Simpson of Cody and Laramie; and brother, Jeff Livingston of Cody and Laramie. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Dorsey Hensel of Rockwall, Texas; father-in-law, Allen Shaw of Bethesda, Md.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shannon Smith and Ken Gray of Castle Rock, Colo., sister-in-law, Casey DiGaetano of Denver; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marty and Sandy Shaw of Tucson, Ariz.; sister and brother-in-law, Ryan and Chris Lockard of Plano, Texas; sister-in-law, Morgan Shaw of Frisco, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his paternal and maternal grandparents. Services will be 1:30 p.m. today July 19 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Cathedral in Laramie with inurnment in St. Matthew's Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name can be sent to St. Matthew's Cathedral, 104 S. Fourth St., Laramie, WY, 82070.
