More detail on this person: LAKELAND - Mr. Joseph C. Lach, Jr. passed away on the 13th of July 2012 due to kidney failure. Mr. Lach left this earth to be with his heavenly father. He was born on November 27, 1927 to Joseph Sr. and Jane Lach in Newark, N.J. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Lillian Keimig Lach. They were married on December 15, 1951 at the Reese AFB Chapel the same day he graduated from pilot training in the USAF and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He served his country for 24 years, retiring on September 1, 1974. Mr. Lach also was a helicopter pilot and meteorologist. He served as commander of the weather facility at Yokota AFB in Japan.

Joseph graduated from Seton Hall High School in South Orange, N.J. He attended the Coast Guard Academy for 2 1/2 years in Connecticut. He has a degree from New York University and the University of Puerto Rico. Joseph served in the Korean Conflict and during the Vietnam War. He also had tours of duty at Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico and Yokota, Japan.

He leaves behind his six children, Christine (Larry) Walworth, Marjorie Shepherd, Elaine (Joseph) Trimble, Joseph Lach, III, Jane (Joseph) Guidetti and Teresa

(Michael) DeMino; grandchildren, Amanda, Cheryl, Michelle, Nicole, Stephanie, Ryan, and Scott; great grandchildren, Logan, Brian, Brittany, Brianna and Angelica; a brother, Frank (Emily); sister, Betty (Shawn); He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

The viewing will be Tuesday, July 17 at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home (Northside Chapel) from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday; Father Nicholas O'Brien will be the Celebrant.

Burial with Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
