I flew with Ben in the National Guard at Westover
AFB in the late 70's. Ben flew the HH-43B Huskie
in the Air Force; we were the 1059th Medical
Detachment and we flew MAST and other rescue
missions in the UH-1. As I recall, Ben was a
school teacher. I left the unit shortly before his
death and as I understand it, Ben suffered a fatal
heart attack while in formation at Camp
Edwards--the unit had moved to Cape Cod and Ben
followed it there. He was a guidance counselor.
