More detail on this person: Peter Falk Lottsfeldt (age 81) entered into rest on January 4, 2014 in Bellingham, WA. Peter was born on May 31, 1932 in Seattle, WA to Ernest T. and Winona M. (Falk) Lottsfeldt. He attended Auburn Senior High School in Auburn, WA, graduating in 1950. Peter continued his education at Western Washington University, achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology in 1984. Peter enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a pilot, and served from September 29, 1952 until his retirement on October 31, 1977. He went into the Navy's Navy Cadet (NavCad) Program in 1952, and received his wings and commission in the Marine Corps in 1954. Peter continued serving his country, enduring 2 ½ tours in Vietnam. During his military career, Peter achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was awarded: the Bronze Star Medal w/devices; Air Medal w/8 stars; Navy Commendation Medal; Presidential Unit Citation; Navy Unit Commendation; National Defense Service Medal w/1 star; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/4 stars; Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After 25 years of active duty, Peter retired from the Marine Corps in 1977. Following his military service, Peter worked in the Bellingham Public Schools as a Certified Classroom Teacher for five years (1984-1989). Peter was very proud of his military career and was an active member of The Marine Corps League, the Retired Officers Association, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. During his life, Peter displayed many notable qualities. He was loving, caring, compassionate, understanding, sensitive, benevolent and proud. He was also a leader, a teacher, a caregiver, a father, and he was very faithful to family and to the Episcopalian Church. He is survived by his Daughters, Heather S. (Theodore) Alff of Bellingham, WA, and Kirsten A. Lottsfeldt of Seattle, WA; Son, Joshua P. (Tomoko) Lottsfeldt and grandson, Eric, all of Seattle, WA. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannie G. Lottsfeldt (Married April 17, 1960 - July 1, 1987), second wife, Patricia I. Lottsfeldt (November 10, 1990 - May 1, 1994), and his brother, Ernest Theodore Lottsfeldt. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Bayview City Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at the Bellingham Elks Lodge at 3:00 p.m.
