More detail on this person: T. COLONEL CHARLES SPENCER LINGLE, USAF (Ret.) died on Friday, August 1, 2003. He was born November 29, 1933 in Lubbock, Texas to Charles Moore Lingle and Martha Lingle. Charles was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather Stanton P. Coffey, and sister Anne Tabler. Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Florence Tamara Lingle, sons David Lingle and Mark Lingle, grandson Kyle Lingle, who referred to his grandfather as "Papa", brother in law Don Tabler, three nieces and one nephew, and numerous friends. Lt. Colonel Lingle served in the United States Air Force for twenty years where he accrued approximately 6,000 hours piloting KC-135 air refueling tankers including wartime missions over Southeast Asia in the Vietnam War. Charles also piloted a Huey UH1-P gunship for the 20th Special Operations Squadron in Southeast Asia. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Energy. Mr. Lingle's family expresses their gratitude to his caregivers Edith Price and Edith Williams. In addition, they express their gratitude to Dr. Frank Fossella and the nursing staff at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital, as well as Dr. Thomas Lux and the staff at Memorial-Hermann Hospital.
