More detail on this person: Mishap kills Searsmont man SEARSMONT (AP) A Searsmont man was killed Monday when he was caught and spun on the shaft of a fan used to dry lumber at Rabbins Lumber Co. here, state police said. Cpl. Harry Bailey said that Robert W. Laycock, 31, was working alone in the kiln, the building where the lumber is dried, when his clothing apparently became caught on the shaft. Bailey said Laycock died of shock and loss of blood. The accident happened at about 8 a.m., and was discovered about a half-hour later by an owner of the mill, Bailey said.
