More detail on this person: Man dies in crash of experimental plane A man died Sunday evening when an experimental plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Mesquite Airport on the southeast edge of Dallas. Officials said Robert Lidster's plane went down about 7 p.m., crashing into a deep ravine near a creek in a wooded area, complicating recovery efforts. Lidster, 56, had been building the experimental plane for seven years. He is believed to have been the only person aboard the plane.
