More detail on this person: Helicopter crash seven days into training at Ft Wolters. Army Identifies Crash Victims FT. WOLTERS, Tex. (UPI) - Second Lt. John T. Lyons, 24, and civilian instructor John M. Swengel, 29, were identified today as the victims of an Army helicopter crash Monday near the Brazos River. Lyons was from Park Forest, Ill. He and his wife came to Ft. Wolters, near Mineral Wells, Tex., Oct. 3, so he could take helicopter pilot training. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Lyons. Swengel, his instructor, was an employee of Southern Airways, which conducts helicopter flight training at Ft. Wolters under contract. He had been an instructor since June and originally came from Arcadia, Calif. Their Hiller OH-23D helicopter crashed 10 miles west of Mineral Wells on a training mission.
