More detail on this person: Raymond E. "Ray" Mayhew, age 72, of The Villages, FL passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018. He was born in Queens, NY on December 10, 1945. He served in the US Army as a Helicopter Pilot during the Vietnam Conflict. After his military service Ray worked in Ecuador, South America as a Helicopter Pilot for the Oil Industry in the Amazon Jungle. Then he moved to Miami and worked with Metro Dade Sheriff Department as a Deputy where he retired after 32 years. He moved to The Villages in 2003. Ray enjoyed riding his recumbent bike and playing golf. He is survived by his wife Sandra Mayhew; daughters Cristeen (Bill) Floyd, Jennifer Mayhew and Michelle Mayhew; sister Barbara Wardell; 3 grandchildren John Wayne, Scott Ryan and Ray. A memorial service will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 3pm. Reception will follow the service. Inurnment with military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hiers-baxley.com.
