More detail on this person: SAN ANGELO - John Douglas Moberly, 64, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at his residence. Memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. Survivors include his wife, Karen Moberly of San Angelo; son Shaun Moberly of Havelock, N.C.; daughter Michelle Landis of San Angelo; brothers Ken Derringer of Wyoming, Joe Connor of Illinois and Jim Berry of Massachusetts; and sister Glenda Christiansen of Indiana. Taken from: The San Angelo Standard Times A memorial service and celebration of life for John Douglas Moberly will be held in Greybull at a later date. John, 64, died July 23 in San Angelo, Texas. John graduated from Greybull High School in 1965. He joined the United States Army in 1966 and served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. After receiving his discharge he returned to Greybull with his wife Karen of Savannah, Ga. John continued his love of flying with Hawkins and Powers Aviation, where he worked for 23 years. He and Karen left Greybull in 1993 when he accepted a job as senior field engineer for Bell Helicopter-Textron. John was a member of BPOE 1431 (Past Exalted Ruler), Masonic Temple, VFW and American Legion. He was a volunteer fireman with the Greybull Fire Department for 20 years, and served two terms on the Greybull Town Council. He loved Greybull and wanted nothing more than to have his children raised in this community. John was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Moberly, and sister, Janet Sweetser. He is survived by his wife Karen of San Angelo, his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Wayne Landis and their twin daughters, Emma and Sofia, also of San Angelo; his son and daughter-in-law, Shaun and Krista Moberly and their three sons, Sean, Brice and Logan of Havelock, N.C.; three brothers, Ken Derringer of Hyattville, Joe Connor of Rockford, Ill., and Jim Berry of Taunton, Mass., and one sister, Glenda Christiansen of North Manchester, Ind.
