More detail on this person: Brian Miller died suddenly on 7th January, 2018, aged 72 years. He had become a close and accepted friend and brother to the Australian Vietnam veterans of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. His passing was a shock to us all, pilots and grunts alike. He was held in such high regard that he had been invited by our Association to lead the march of veterans carrying the United States flag - for the first time ever - alongside those of Australia and New Zealand on our Veterans Day in August. Sadly, it was not to be. After leaving the US Army in 1975, Brian flew extensively as a commercial pilot in Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Antarctica, Papua New Guinea, China and Australia. After retiring from flying, he busied himself as CEO of History-to-Share, a high tech company that was on the brink of great things in Australia. At his funeral, attended by a great number of family, friends and veterans, his casket was draped with the flag of his adopted country, Australia, his medals and a 3/17 CAV hat donated for the occasion by Australian pilots who had flown with that unit in the RVN. A military portion of the service was conducted by the Returned Services League on the Sunshine Coast. It included the laying of individual red poppies - the symbol of service and sacrifice - by family, and all attending. The Last Post and Rouse were played. Brian is survived by his loving wife, three children, sisters and brother. He is and will be sorely missed. Farewell, old mate. You have slipped the surly bonds this last time.
