More detail on this person: Mr Richard Douglas Or Mac Macdonald, 63 SOUTH CAROLINA OBITUARIES JAMES - WOOTEN State, The (Columbia, SC) - Thursday, August 15, 2002 COLUMBIA - Services for Richard Douglas "Mac" MacDonald, 63, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2002 at Forest Drive Baptist Church, conducted by the Reverend Brian G. Thomas. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church. Shives Funeral Home is in charge. Memorials may be made to Forest Drive Baptist Church, 4128 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29204. Mr. MacDonald died Tuesday, August 13, 2002, in Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. Born in Detroit, he was a son of Martha Slocum MacDonald and the late Robert Harold MacDonald. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, having served as a helicopter maintenance warrant officer. He had worked for the Directoriate of Logistics and Engineering at Ft. Jackson and was Union President of the Ft. Jackson Blue Collar Workers. He was a member of Forest Drive Baptist Church, the Men's Group at the church and had served as greeter. He had attended Ford Institute in Detroit. Surviving are his wife, Buffy Palmer MacDonald, formerly of Durham, N.H.; mother of Michigan; son, Richard D. MacDonald Jr.; daughter, April M. Driggers, both of Oak Island, N.C.; stepson, Greg A. Surrette and his wife, Joje, of Savannah; stepdaughter, Suzanne Rogers of Atlanta; grandchildren, Joshua and Rebecka Driggers, Bryon MacDonald; stepgrandchildren, Greg A. Surrette Jr., James Surrette; sister, Janice Nelson and her husband, Jack, of Pontiac, Mich. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Lee MacDonald and a son, Timothy S. MacDonald.
