More detail on this person: Roland Deurell Mitchell, 68 deaths Roland Deurell Mitchell Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer (KY) - Thursday, January 13, 2005 HOUMA, La. - Roland Deurell Mitchell, 68, of Houma died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005. He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of chief warrant officer 3, served three tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He also retired after 23 years of service with Petroleum Helicopters Inc., where he was a pilot. He was a member of VFW Post 7755 in Bourg and the Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Miller Mitchell of Houma, and he is survived locally by a son, Robert E. Miles of Owensboro; a grandchild, Brandy Miles of Bakersville, N.C.; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia and Lester Earl Jones of Owensboro. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Chapel of Peace in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 696 and Fort Campbell Honor Guards. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
