More detail on this person: Lew Maneval JASPER, Mo. _ Lew Anthony Maneval, 58, Jasper, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 1996, at Missouri Veteran's Hospital, Mount Vernon, where he suffered an apparent heart while working as a volunteer entertaining with music. Mr. Maneval was born Dec. 19, 1937, at Salina, Kan. He moved to Jasper in 1947 when his parents bought Maneval Inc. He served in the Navy as a helicopter pilot from October 1960 to November 1968 with two tours in the Vietnam area and three years as a flight instructor at Pensacola, Fla. After serving as a safety engineer for five years in Denver, Colo., he returned to Jasper in September 1973 to join his father and two brothers in the family business, Maneval Inc. He served two years as mayor of Jasper and four years on the Jasper R-5 School Board. He was secretary of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce. He was a past member of the board of the Bank of Jasper and also served on the all-school reunion committee of Jasper. He was a member of Jasper United Methodist Church, where he had been a choir member, Sunday school teacher, a lay leader for 10 years, and also had served as the evangelism chairman. For the past year, he was managing editor of the church's outreach paper, ``The Methodist Messenger.''
