McCormick died Monday, Nov. 7, 2000, in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was 57. Mr. McCormick was a veteran captain in the U.S. Army. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, five Purple Hearts, the Army Accommodation Medal with Valor, the Bronze Star with Valor, the Air Medal 29 times and other combat and infantry badges. He was a Catholic. Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Marie Sullivan McCormick. Survivors include his wife, Beverly S. McCormick, North Pole, Alaska; sons, Jason McCormick, Houston, Texas, Jeff McCormick, San Jose, Calif., and Wayne McCormick, Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters, Jennifer Bryant, Altus, Okla., Jacquelyn McCormick, North Pole; brother, Joe McCormick; sisters, Janie Masters, Judy Cunningham, Jannell Dye and Jere Bonner, all of Tennessee; and three grandchildren. Services were Saturday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. James E. Young officiating. Burial was in Moral Cemetery.
