More detail on this person: Robert "Jim" McCarthy was born in Superior, WI on July 5, 1941 and passed on Monday, January 2, 2023 in Lawton, OK. He joined the Army in 1960 and served as a Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne before attending WORWAC 67-19. He served one tour as a CW2 with the 114th AHC. Jim returned to Fort Rucker, AL and served as a Standardization Instructor Pilot. He accepted a direct commission in the Field Artillery and was transitioned into the CH-54 Skycrane. He served a second tour in Vietnam as a Captain flying the CH-54. Jim was transferred to Fort Sill, OK and spent his final years in the Army as a Life Flight Pilot stationed in Ft Sill, Oklahoma where he retired at the rank of Major.
