Rucker, AL '61-'64. 4th Armored Div., ASTA Pit, '64-'65. 7th Army HQs, G-2 Air '65-'66 COLONEL GEORGE MIKULA, RET., 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Clifton, N.J., he was with the U.S. Army for 26 years. He received a B.S. Degree from Rutgers University and M.S. Degree from Georgia Southern University. He was a two time Vietnam veteran; a Master Aviator Helicopter Pilot who was assigned to the Pentagon and was responsible for R & D. He was a Director of new business development for ITT. He was a football referee for 25 years and a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church for 30 years. He is remembered as a loving father by his son, Bruce (Kathleen) Mikula of Denville, N.J.; and daughters, Clarie (Jim) Mikula Hatton of Pittsburgh, Pa, and JoLeigh (Chris) Rigsbee of Carmel. He was also survived by sister, Olly (Robert) Modersohn of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren, Tate and Harris Mikula, Elizabeth, Sarah and Joe Hatton, and Alex, Andrew and Elle Rigsbee. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Waldron Mikula, in 2002; and second wife, Dorothy McCraken Mikula, in 2007. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road, with calling one hour prior. Dr. Derek Weber officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Memoriais may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation or Aldersgate Methodist Church.
