Martinez, US Army Ret passed away July 27, 2014.
Serving 26 years in the US Army, initially as a
helicopter pilot and flight instructor, he then
completed his Army service with the US Army
Corps of Engineers. Upon his military retirement,
he worked another 23 years for KBR and owned his
own consulting firm. He was a proud graduate of
West Virginia University, member and fellow of The
Society of American Military Engineers, Past
President and member of the Cocoa Beach
Daybreak Rotary Club and President of the Florida
Chapter of the Design Build Institute of America.
He is survived by his wife Julie, his mom
Elizabeth Martinez, his children Angela (Glenn)
Goral and Breann (John) Jones and 5 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request
donations to the Society of American Military
Engineers Education & Mentoring Fund. Please
note "In Memory of Lou Martinez" on your donation.

Lou and I were reunited at the Louisville Reunion
in July 2014 for the first time since 1970. He
and I crashed a Cobra in the Song Be River on
Christmas Day 1969.

Obituary: LT. Colonel Louis J. Martinez, US Army,
Ret, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014. Serving
26 years in the US Army, initially as a helicopter
pilot and flight instructor, he then completed his

Upon his military retirement he worked another 23

University and received his Masters Degree from
John Hopkins University. He was a member and
fellow of The Society of American Military
Engineers, Past President and member of the
Cocoa Beach Daybreak Rotary Club and President
of the Florida Chapter of the Design Build
Institute of America and member of the Associated
General Contractors of America.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; his mom,
Elizabeth Martinez; his children, Angela (Glenn)
Goral, and Breann (John) Jones; five
grandchildren; his brothers, Michael Martinez and
Alan (Kim) Martinez, and his sister, Heidi Babin.
