Monhollen, 65, died peacefully at his home in San
Antonio, TX with his family by his side. Ed was
born Sept 19, 1946 in Keith, WV and graduated
from Woodward High School Toledo, Ohio with the
Class of 1964. He received his bachelor's degree
from USC and Masters from Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University. Ed enlisted in the U.S.
Army in 1967 and served his country proudly as a
gunship pilot in the Republic of Vietnam where he
survived a helicopter crash and went on to accept
his appointment as a commissioned officer in 1970.
He retired as a Major in 1987 and went on to
continue his aviation mishap investigation career
with Sikorsky Aircraft and then hung his own
shingle as a consultant until 2005. Famed for his
unmistakable laugh, Ed brought a tear to many an
eye on the golf course, in the Pub and in living
rooms near and far. He is preceded in death by his
Pop Ed Monhollen Sr., his partner in crime &
father-in law Perry Salinas, brother-in-law Bruce
Jeffrey Dickson and son-in-law John Hoste. He'll
be waiting at the gates until they are joined
again for his Mama Norma Monhollen, mother in law
Rita (Mom) Salinas, wife Cynthia (one each)
Salinas Monhollen, daughters Michelle (Booger)
Hoste, Dr. Nicole (IckyNay) Schalk and husband
Jay Hook, Erin (Munchostiltzkin) Monhollen and
fiance Michael Bordonaro, grandchildren Maddisan
(Maddigascart), Benjamin (Benjammin) Abbigail
(Abbygator) Hoste, and (baby cinder) Ella Hook,
siblings Shelby (Reb) Monhollen & wife Laura,
Janet (Faya) Dickson, (Moose) Bruce Monhollen &
wife Lorre, Andrea (DenoBonino) Green,
sister-in-laws Dahlia (Debito) Klepac & husband
Denis, Sonya (Sooohnyaaaa) Knight & husband
Tom, Rita Girl Saavedra & Sylvia (Sylvioso) Dennes
& husband Jeff as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of
Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera
Rd., San Antonio, TX 78238. Viewing will be
Wednesday, April 18th between 7 & 9 pm, Services
will begin at 9:30 am on Thursday April 19th at
Sunset NW, with the interment to follow at Ft. Sam
Houston National Cemetery. Expressions of
