More detail on this person: He was born in Taft, CA, in 1943. Tim graduated from Bakersfield High School and went on to receive a business degree from the University of Albuquerque and an MBA from Webster University. Tim married Lisa Thames in May 1991, and they enjoyed many adventures together. Tim had a passion for aviation and that fueled his career choices throughout his life. He flew fixed and rotary wing aircraft throughout his 20-year career in the US Army. After retirement, he went on to foster another career as a Principal Operations Inspector and National Resource Inspector with the FAA, focusing on the general aviation field. Tim served proudly in the US Army and was a decorated veteran of two tours in Vietnam. Tim was a member of the Bakersfield Masonic Lodge, the Hillsboro VFW post, and the Quiet Birdmen St. Louis Hangar. His other passions included motorcycle touring, scuba diving, and hunting. Let us not forget that he was a master at cooking on the grill. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard H. Moon, Jr, and Darlene Weigert James; brothers Leonard H. Moon, III, and Gordon Moon; grandson Daniel Moon; granddaughter Linda Moon; and his beloved dog, Cooper. Tim is survived by his sons from a previous marriage, Timothy, Jr., Michael (Aida), and Joseph (Edith); and stepson Samuel Tumblin; grandchildren Dustin, Timothy, Aubrey, Penelope, Jacob, Damien, and Madelyn; nieces Jodie Fall, Jennifer Hulcy, and Adrienne McNeilly; and nephew Lennie Moon. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, March 5th, 2022, at Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, Hillsboro, Oregon. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a donation to the Disabled American Veterans in Tim's name (www.dav.org).
