More detail on this person: George "Joe" Montgomery died January 27, 2011 at hishome in Cedar City, UT. Mr. Montgomery joined teh Army in March, 1967 and attended basic training at Fort Bliss, Infantry-Airborne at Fort Gordon, OCS at Fort meade and flight school at Fort Wolters. Shortly after receiving his commission, he grew his trademark gunfighter moustache, which he wore the rest of his life. he prooudly served in the Air Calvalry where he earned the nicknames "The Fire-Breather" and "The Red Baron". He completed one tour of duty in Vietnam, proudly and heroically serving the U.S. Army as a helicopter scout pilot in Troop C, 3rd Armored Squadron, 17th Sir Cavalry, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal for Heroism.
